Blog #18: Summary of a new text

     In the article “Breaking the Academic Stigma Surrounding Pop Culture Studies” Ellie Smith, describes pop culture should be treated as a legitimate academic field. It is worthwhile to study. First, he explains what is included in pop culture. Pop culture can show people’s real thinking. Next, he discusses the cultural controversy. We may think this pop culture is bad today, but it may become good in the future. After that, he mentions the value of pop culture. Its value is often obscured. Then, he teaches us how to measure value. Finally, he explains why we should study pop culture.

       I chose this article because it explains the pop culture very well. It makes me know the value of the pop culture. I think the culture can be popular is that it's easy to resonate with people. One of my take-aways is the evolution of popular culture. It can go from trash to classic. Popular culture can preserve some information about society.
