By learning Unit 1, I know more about culture. After watch three videos, I know about the definition of culture. I know the culture is not static. It is dynamic. We should learn the culture because it will change every time. At first, I think the culture is like the history. Now I change my mind. Culture includes many things, such as food, clothing, behavior and so on. I also learn about new words about culture. For example, cultural relativism is that make choices between culture. One is the good, the other is the bad. I think it is crazy because there is diversity in culture. Every culture has a good side. We cannot just choose one culture which you think it is the best. We should learn the advantage side and avoid the disadvantage side. I made a cultural identity poster and discussed with my classmate. I know more Chinese culture. Though I was born in China, but I didn’t know that before. I learned many things, but my Aha moment was culture shock. It means when you go to new place, you receive different culture. The people will experience different stages. Sometimes it is honeymoon, sometimes it is anxiety. Because I went to the U.S., I receive new culture. It is the same with stages of culture shock. I am surprised about culture shock. I use Big Family to express this unit. Every culture is like family members in family. They have their own characteristics.
